About Clerkie

Clerkie is a fintech startup on a mission to democratize financial wellness using the power of artificial intelligence. Launched in 2018, Clerkie began with an app, aiming to help the nearly 123 million underserved Americans in need of financial guidance. Since its inception, the company has expanded its services and now pairs consumer guidance with cutting-edge B2B software. By pairing the two through the Clerkie network, these tools have become the go-to resource for creditors looking to manage loan losses while simultaneously helping millions of borrowers get out of debt.

Clerkie is a remote-first company, with over 30 employees spanning 4 time zones across the United States. To date, the company has raised $41 million, including a $33 million Series A round in early 2023. Investors include leading financial and venture institutions, including Citi Ventures, Left Lane Capital, Wellington Ventures, Flourish Ventures, and Vestigo Ventures.

About the role

We’re looking for a hands-on QA Analyst to join our Engineering team and help scale our quality assurance practice. You’ll work closely with our QA Manager (Mark) and Engineering teammates to own the execution of manual and automated testing, help manage our test case library, and ensure every release meets our bar for excellence.

This is an ideal role for someone who loves digging into the details, spotting edge cases others might miss, and making sure our user experience feels polished and reliable. You’ll be a key part of the engine that powers fast, confident, high-quality shipping at Clerkie.

Here’s what you’ll do

  • Execute manual and automated test cases across our web and mobile apps
  • Help maintain and expand our test case library in TestRail
  • Log and triage bugs in collaboration with Engineering and Product
  • Contribute to release testing and regression cycles
  • Suggest improvements to QA processes, tools, and coverage
  • Participate in standups, sprint planning, and team rituals

  • Work closely with our QA Manager to continuously raise the quality bar
  • (Bonus) Begin to take on small automation tasks over time

Here’s a snapshot of what the QA team tackled last month

  • Ran full regression tests across 3 new releases
  • Logged and triaged 80+ issues across our CRM and IMS platforms
  • Partnered with Product to pressure-test high-priority UX flows
  • Shadowed Design and Engineering to uncover edge-case scenarios
  • Organized and streamlined our test case library to improve efficiency
  • Supported exploratory testing for a new feature launch
  • Got shoutouts in team standup for catching a bug that saved the day 🎯
  • (Oh—and joined the rest of Clerkie for a team hackathon on a private island in the Bahamas 🏝️)
  • And more! From big wins to team traditions, it’s been a month - and we’re just getting started 😎

Must-haves

  • 1–2 years of experience in QA, software testing, or a related field
  • Strong attention to detail and a love for process and polish
  • Experience executing manual test cases and logging clear, reproducible bugs
  • Familiarity with tools like TestRail, Jira, or similar
  • Collaborative mindset—you love working cross-functionally
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and a growth mindset
  • Solid time-management, communication and documentation skills

Nice-to-haves (but not required)

  • Exposure to automation tools like Puppeteer, Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright
  • Experience working in startups or fast-paced tech environments
  • Familiarity with mobile app testing (iOS/Android)
  • An interest in fintech, product quality, and user experience
  • Prior experience in a tech company, startup, or product-adjacent role
  • Background in CS, business, design, analytics, or another relevant field
  • A basic understanding of how software gets built (or a desire to learn)
  • Passion for financial wellness, tech-for-good, or startup life
