Mission of the Role:

The mission of the Data Analyst, Finance & Revenue Operations is to create and maintain a single, trusted view of financial performance that enables Finance, Revenue Operations, and business leaders to make timely, high-confidence decisions.

Reporting to the Director of Data within the centralized Data & Analytics team, this role owns analytics across the finance domain—partnering closely with Finance and Revenue Operations to deliver reliable financial reporting, analyze revenue and unit economics, and translate complex data into clear, actionable insights. Working cross-functionally with analytics engineering and data engineering, the Data Analyst leverages modern data tools to build scalable, accurate, and decision-ready solutions.

Essential Functions & Impact Areas:

  • Own reporting and analysis for shipments, units, and gross revenue, ensuring alignment between financial systems (e.g., NetSuite) and the data warehouse (Snowflake).
  • Build and maintain Tableau dashboards that support Finance, Revenue Operations, and leadership decision-making.
  • Analyze and explain key performance metrics—including Conversion, Average Order Value (AOV), Retention, and Lifetime Value (LTV)—through a financial and unit-economics lens.
  • Support enhancements to gross contribution and revenue models, validating logic and partnering with analytics engineering on model improvements.
  • Partner on the in-house transition of repurchase and retention curves, supporting analysis, testing, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Analyze Shopify financial data, including one-time vs. subscription purchases, break-of-box logic, and order- and line-item-level revenue dynamics.
  • Use SQL and Python to perform exploratory, ad-hoc, and deep-dive analyses that surface insights and opportunities.
  • Act as an analytics partner to Finance and RevOps while collaborating with other analysts across Data & Analytics to ensure metric consistency.
  • Document metrics, definitions, and dashboard logic to support clarity, trust, and scalability.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in SQL, including experience writing complex analytical queries.
  • Experience in financial, revenue, or business analytics, ideally in close partnership with Finance or Revenue Operations teams.
  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining Tableau dashboards for business stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of conversion, retention, AOV, and LTV metrics and how they influence revenue and forecasting.
  • Experience using Python for analysis (e.g., pandas, Jupyter notebooks).
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate analysis into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency using AI (e.g., ChatGPT and Google Gemini) to accelerate analysis and communication — such as drafting SQL/Python approaches, summarizing findings, and generating documentation — while independently validating outputs for accuracy.
  • Ability to use AI tools to speed up exploratory analysis (hypothesis generation, anomaly investigation, dashboard QA) without compromising metric integrity or financial reporting standards.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with Snowflake or modern cloud data warehouses.
  • Familiarity with NetSuite or accounting-adjacent systems.
  • Exposure to ecommerce or subscription-based business models.
  • Experience working in a centralized analytics or data organization.
  • Experience with AI-assisted coding/analysis workflows (prompt-driven SQL optimization, Python notebook acceleration, automated documentation) alongside strong analytics best practices.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled analytics features within tools like Tableau or modern data platforms to improve dashboard usability, data quality checks, or stakeholder self-serve.
