Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle management of AWS Relational Database Services (RDS), with a strong focus on automation, scalability, and performance optimization. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure high availability, security, and operational excellence across our cloud-based data infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the lifecycle of AWS RDS, including provisioning, monitoring, patching, and decommissioning.

• Work with AWS Aurora and PostgreSQL to support business-critical applications.

• Lead database migration projects.

• Analyze and optimize execution plans and queries to improve performance and efficiency.

• Oversee backend storage management, ensuring scalability and cost-efficiency.

• Develop and implement disaster recovery and high availability strategies.

• Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for incidents and implement long-term fixes.

• Create and maintain handbooks, runbooks, and technical documentation.

• Support incident resolution and assist teams in epic creation and problem-solving.

• Perform operational tasks, including incident handling and on-call support as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications

1. Absolute must:

• (Best Practice) Lifecycle Management of AWS Relational Database Service

• Analysis and consulting on execution plans and queries

• Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Crossplane

• CI/CD pipeline configuration and management.

2. Secondary, but important:

• Monitoring metrics in Prometheus/Grafana and integration with MS Teams

• Logging infrastructure (ELK, CloudWatch)

• Backend storage management and adjustments (scaling)

• Disaster recovery and high availability strategies.

3. Optional:

• Conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations

• Contributing to manuals, runbooks, and other documentation

• Independent analysis and resolution of problems, as well as collaborating with the team on epics

• Routine operational tasks including incident handling.

What you bring

• A completed degree with an IT-related focus

• At least 3–5 years of professional experience in IT or banking with an IT connection

• A strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code tooling (Crossplane, Terraform, Ansible)

• Expertise in technical and architectural evaluation of implementation proposals

• Several years of experience with AWS Aurora, RedShift, GitLab, Oracle databases, and database migrations, as well as permission management using IAM tools.
