Our client is a well-established platform which is looking for a highly skilled Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator to take full ownership of our mission-critical database environments. You will be responsible for ensuring exceptional performance, scalability, and reliability across high-volume, real-time systems. Experience with hot/cold table structures, stored procedures, and advanced tuning techniques is essential.
Experience in iGaming or online betting or Fintech is a strong advantage due to the fast-paced transactional nature of the platform.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and optimize production-grade PostgreSQL databases.
- Manage large PostgreSQL clusters in high-availability architectures.
- Implement efficient hot/cold table strategies, partitioning, and lifecycle management.
- Execute deep query tuning, indexing, vacuum/analyze, and database-level optimization.
- Monitor and troubleshoot performance issues to resolve bottlenecks.
- Build, enhance, and maintain stored procedures, triggers, and PL/pgSQL logic.
- Automate maintenance routines, scaling operations, and failover processes.
- Manage and optimize Amazon RDS PostgreSQL, including multi-AZ setups and replicas.
- Utilize AWS services (CloudWatch, EC2, S3) to support database operations.
- Maintain strong backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Manage user roles, permissions, encryption, and auditing.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory and security standards.
- Partner with backend engineers, DevOps, and product teams.
- Provide database expertise during architecture design.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for database-related incidents.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Senior PostgreSQL DBA.
- Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL internals, tuning, indexing, and partitioning.
- Strong experience with hot/cold tables and data lifecycle strategies.
- Advanced PL/pgSQL, stored procedure, and trigger development.
- Expertise with replication, failover, backups, and high availability setups.
- Strong understanding of concurrency, ACID, and JSONB.
Nice-to-Have:
iGaming, sportsbook, or casino industry experience, Hands-on use of AWS RDS PostgreSQL, Familiarity with microservices-oriented database architectures, experience with monitoring tools (pgBadger, Grafana, Datadog).
