Your creative field
Backend Development
- Build and maintain Django-based backend services
- Implement business logic for compliance workflows
- Design and develop RESTful APIs
- Write clean, testable, well-documented code
- Participate in code reviews and technical discussions
Integrations, Data, and AI
- Build integrations with external systems (Azure services, third-party APIs)
- Support data pipelines and connections to the data platform (Databricks, Azure Data Lake)
- Implement MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers for AI features
- Work with streaming data and real-time features
Quality and Collaboration
- Write unit and integration tests
- Contribute to technical documentation
- Collaborate with frontend engineers on API contracts
- Work with Product to clarify requirements and estimate work
- Support QA in testing and bug resolution
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and address technical debt
- Propose improvements to architecture and processes
- Stay current with relevant technologies and best practices
- Contribute to engineering standards and guidelines
Technical Environment
- Backend: Python, Django, FastAPI, Celery
- Database: PostgreSQL, Milvus, Elasticsearch
- Cloud: Azure (App Service, Functions, Storage, Data Lake)
- Data Platform: Databricks, Azure Data Factory
- Frontend (for context): Vue.js, TypeScript
- CI/CD: GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps
- Monitoring: Elasticsearch, Sentry, Posthog, Azure Monitor (expanding with OpenTelemetry)
Your profile
Required
- 3+ years of backend development experience
- Strong Python skills with Django, extra points for FastAPI
- Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred)
- Experience with Docker, including compose
- Familiarity with REST API design and implementation
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred, AWS/GCP acceptable)
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Proactive and self-directed; able to work without constant guidance
- Fluent English (team language)Based in Portugal (Lisbon or Porto) or willing to relocateAI fluency - you actively use AI tools in your workflow
Preferred
- Experience with data pipelines or ETL processes
- Familiarity with Celery or other task queues
- Exposure to AI/ML integrations (using models, not necessarily building them)
- Experience with B2B SaaS products
- Knowledge of compliance or regulated industriesFull-stack capability (Vue.js/TypeScript a plus)
