Overview of the role:Join us at PolicyMe! We're modernizing insurance and we'd like your help. The Canadian insurance landscape has remained largely unchanged for decades and we are in the process of changing that. We're a remote-first, Toronto-based startup with big ambitions. PolicyMe is looking to expand into new insurance product lines and additional markets. To support this growth, we are seeking a motivated Product Manager to join our mighty Product team!\n What you'll be doing:<ul><li>As a Product Manager, you will support the development of new insurance products from pre-launch to launch and beyond, as well as the enhancement of existing products. This role offers the chance to contribute significantly to projects and to learn from senior team members. In your day-to-day, this will lead you to:</li><li>Support the Vision and Roadmap for Our Product:&nbsp;Help articulate the strategic goals for our product and support the roadmap for how we get there. Communicate progress against the roadmap and goals to all key stakeholders (e.g., Customer Success, Engineering, Growth).</li><li>Gain In-Depth Understanding of Our Customers:&nbsp;Develop an understanding of our customers by assisting in customer interviews, analyzing performance data, helping set up mechanisms for collecting feedback, and understanding customer personas.</li><li>Assist in Developing the Backlog:&nbsp;Collaborate with stakeholders across PolicyMe to ideate and then help manage a backlog of new builds to meet our customers' needs, improve our back-end integrity, innovate, and ultimately reach the defined vision.</li><li>Help Prioritize What to Work On:&nbsp;Assist in deciding what our engineers invest time on and in what order. By supporting the development and execution of a disciplined process, help prioritize new features, product optimizations, bugs, and maintenance activities.</li><li>Define What Each Feature Looks Like:&nbsp;Collaborate with designers for wireframes, engineers for technical details, and customer success members for customer insights. Help write the specifications for what needs to be done in order to build and launch new features. Identify which aspects of a build are part of the MVP and which can come in future iterations.</li><li>Support the Team to Build It:&nbsp;Assist as a support point across all functions for ensuring the new build is completed on-time and to specifications.</li><li>Coordinate the launch:&nbsp;You will work with the product team to ensure that the new release has been thoroughly tested and is ready to launch.</li></ul> What we are looking for:<ul><li>Strong documentation skills:&nbsp;Ability to write clear, concise, and well-informed product specifications/requirements.</li><li>Exceptional collaboration skills: You have high emotional intelligence and can "be the glue" between many different stakeholders in the organization.</li><li>Ability to structure ambiguous problems: You have the ability to take an ambiguous problem and structure it. You are someone who can start with an idea and manage it from concept to deployment.</li><li>Demonstrated experience leading: You are comfortable bringing people together, and managing projects with many moving parts. You have a sense of ownership and are excited about driving a project from start to finish.</li><li>Strong communication: You know how to tailor your communication style to meet different audiences. You know when to lead conversations, but also when to listen. You know how to set expectations with different stakeholders and when to ask these stakeholders for help. You can take a complex topic and explain it succinctly in an easy-to-understand manner.</li><li>A strong sense for prioritization: You know how to prioritize different builds and define what is truly part of an MVP to optimize developer productivity. You know how to balance&nbsp;agile market feedback with our customers' product expectations.</li><li>Curiosity and comfort with technical topics: While you do not need a technical background, you are naturally curious about how everything works. You know when to ask clarifying questions and are not shy about diving into complex topics.</li><li>Relevant product experience: &nbsp;You have 3-5 years of experience in product management, product marketing and/or strategy experience, preferably in a consumer technology setting.
