As pioneers in generative AI for healthcare, we are setting the industry standards for the responsible deployment of AI across health systems.We are a growing team of practicing MDs, AI scientists, PhDs, creatives, technologists, and engineers working together to empower people and make care make more sense.<h2>The Role</h2>Our generative AI-powered products are bringing joy back to the practice of medicine, and we’re looking for a seasoned engineering manager to lead our growing team of US-based platform + infrastructure engineers. You’ll support the team that manages our technical underpinnings including kubernetes clusters; networks; IaC; and CI/CD tools.<h2>What You'll Do</h2><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li>People Management: Recruit, retain, and mentor platform engineers. Provide regular feedback; create opportunities for career growth; and foster a culture of collaboration and excellence.</li><li>Project Management: Work closely with stakeholders such as product managers and customers to plan, execute, and support multiple projects simultaneously. You will be responsible for the engineering process in the team and the output of the team.</li><li>Technical Leadership: Help set business context for the team and apply your knowledge of business and software engineering to guide architectural discussions; anticipate and resolve technical challenges; and advocate for technology projects.</li><li>Drive Initiatives: During your tenure at Abridge you’ll have the opportunity to lead efforts that span multiple teams. These might include technology projects such as a major refactoring; adding a new capability such as multi-cloud; or overhauling a process that we’ve outgrown.</li><li>Champion Quality: Set a high standard for your team including software quality; communication; collaboration; and compliance with industry and regulatory standards.</li></ul><h2>Who You Are</h2><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li>A strong technologist, with 7+ years as a platform/Devops/infrastructure engineer in a cloud native environment and 3+ years managing software engineering teams. You can provide useful feedback on a staff-level engineer’s design proposals or pull requests. You have built complex systems in a major cloud platform (we’re on GCP, but appreciate AWS experience too) and have experience-backed opinions about container orchestration; IaC; and CI/CD.</li><li>Knowledgeable about the software development lifecycle. You view processes such as Kanban and Scrum as tools in a toolbox, and you know which tools to apply in which situations.</li><li>Great at hiring and mentorship. You have a track record of bringing talented engineers into an organization, and the people you’ve supported say that you have helped advance their careers.</li><li>Up-to-date on industry best-practices and tools, and enjoy learning new things</li><li>Excited about being hands-on in a fast-moving, productive, and supportive environment</li><li>Willing to pitch in wherever needed</li><li>Have thrived in a fast-growing startup, knows how to operate in that environment</li></ul>Base Salary: $225,000 - $265,000 USD per year + EquityThe salary range provided is based on transparent pay guidelines and is an estimate for candidates residing in the San Francisco and New York City metro areas. The actual base salary will vary depending on the candidate's location, relevant experience, skills, qualifications, and other job-related factors. Additionally, this role may include the opportunity to participate in a company stock option plan as part of the total compensation package.Candidates willing to work from our NYC offices 2-3x/week preferred (Relocation assistance is available for candidates planning to move to New York)Strong preference for candidates who are currently in the New York Tri-State area, or are willing to relocate. This position requires a commitment to a hybrid work model, with the expectation of coming into the office 2-3 times per week.Must be willing to travel up to 10%Abridge typically hosts a three-day builder team retreat every 3-6 months.
