About the Role The Athletic seeks an energetic, motivated reporter to write authoritative, revelatory enterprise and long-form stories, including investigations, and lean into news, as needed. This is a national role and does not have to be sport-specific. This is a remote position based in the United States or Canada.\n Responsibilities<ul><li>Be the authority and drive the agenda around the league and teams.</li><li>Tell rich, ambitious features through deep reporting and access to get beyond superficial storylines.</li><li>Regularly produce stories that competitors are forced to follow and discuss.</li><li>Ability to deliver high-level, in-the-moment stories when news dictates.</li><li>Be meticulous and thorough when sourcing stories.</li><li>Clean, skilled writing in long, medium and short-form formats.</li><li>Balance mid- and long-term projects while delivering stories and news analysis.</li><li>Utilize a creative approach to story ideation and formats.</li><li>Generate executable story and project ideas.</li><li>Maintain a strong voice that can stand out from competitors.</li><li>Work collaboratively with colleagues and share information.</li></ul> Requirements<ul><li>Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience.</li><li>Established relationships across the sports landscape.</li><li>Deep and comprehensive knowledge of sports.</li><li>This is a remote position based in the United States or Canada.</li></ul> \nThe annual base salary range for this role is $100,000.00 - $160,000.00 USD. The total compensation offered for this position may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, and location. It may also include non-cash rewards and benefits.
