Frontend web developer focused on digital accessibility, building Angular UI components for a federal modernization program, ensuring WCAG-compliant, accessible features.
Responsibilities
- Develop Angular components and UI features from Figma using Design System.
- Apply ARIA, semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, focus management, and color contrast.
- Ensure CI passes automated accessibility checks (aXe, pa11y) with no critical findings.
- Remediate legacy UI accessibility defects and prevent new ones.
- Write frontend tests achieving 90%+ branch coverage on new/modified code.
- Complete code reviews within 1 business day with actionable feedback.
- Collaborate with UX, backend, and accessibility specialists to resolve findings efficiently.
- Contribute to Design System governance; propose components and ensure WCAG AA compliance.
- Build responsive, cross-browser interfaces.
- Participate in SAFe Agile ceremonies (planning, standups, reviews, retrospectives).
Requirements
- 3 years of frontend web development experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/IT or 3 years of additional experience.
- Proficiency in Angular (12+), TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3; SPA experience.
- Strong WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 knowledge; ARIA and semantic HTML.
- Experience with automated accessibility tools (aXe, pa11y, WAVE) in CI.
- Experience translating designs from Figma into production code.
- Experience with a shared Design System or component library.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI preferred) and frontend builds/tests.
- Experience writing frontend unit and integration tests (Jasmine, Karma, Jest).
- Familiarity with SonarQube and quality gate enforcement.
Nice to Have
- Experience with federal government contracts and FAR compliance.
- DHS Trusted Tester certification or equivalent accessibility credential.
- Manual screen reader testing with JAWS or NVDA.
- Jira/Confluence experience; Scrum/SAFe environments with 2-3 week sprints.
- Experience with Bootstrap or similar CSS frameworks alongside a Design System.
- Experience consuming RESTful APIs and integrating with microservices backends.
- Familiarity with responsive design and cross-browser testing.
- Experience with Playwright or Cypress for end-to-end testing.
- Background building apps that integrate with federal identity providers or payment systems.
