Description

Aretum is seeking skilled Test Engineers to support a federal civilian client. This role will focus on developing automated test suites, performing functional and regression testing, validating sprint releases, and supporting quality assurance activities in an Agile environment.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in automated and manual testing, including building test automation suites using Cucumber specifications and Selenium or Playwright. This position requires the ability to test applications based on user stories and acceptance criteria, support release verification, and collaborate closely with business analysts, engineers, and project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop automated tests using Cucumber and Selenium, with the ability to support or begin migration of test suites to Playwright.
  • Perform functional testing for new features, enhancements, and bug fixes.
  • Support regression testing and release validation for each sprint.
  • Test applications against user stories, acceptance criteria, and business requirements.
  • Support business analysts and engineers in developing, reviewing, and refining acceptance criteria.
  • Execute, document, and report test results to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Identify, document, and track defects through resolution using established team processes.
  • Support manual testing when automation is not feasible or when exploratory validation is needed.
  • Contribute to test planning, test strategy, and quality assurance practices in an Agile delivery environment.
  • Support testing activities across local, test, staging, and cloud-based environments.
  • Work with technical teams supporting applications built with technologies such as GraphQL, React with TypeScript, ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework Core, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, Helm, Azure, Azure Pipelines, Azure DevOps, and Git.
  • Communicate testing status, risks, blockers, and quality concerns clearly to the project team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional background.
  • 4+ years of software testing, quality assurance, or test engineering.
  • Background building automated test suites using Cucumber specifications and Selenium or Playwright.
  • Ability to test applications based on user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional requirements.
  • Skilled in manual testing, functional testing, regression testing, and sprint release validation.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery practices and release verification processes.
  • Knowledge of containerized application environments, from local development through cloud deployments.
  • Knowledge of GraphQL for APIs.
  • Familiarity with React and TypeScript for user interfaces.
  • Understanding of ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework Core, and PostgreSQL in application environments.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and Helm charts for application deployments and configuration management.
  • Familiarity with Azure cloud services, including AKS, Storage Accounts, Key Vaults, and related services.
  • Ability to use Azure Pipelines, Azure DevOps, and Git to support testing workflows, task management, code review, and deployment coordination.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced client environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background supporting federal civilian clients.
  • Familiarity with enterprise application modernization or cloud-based application testing.
  • Exposure to accessibility, performance, API, or security testing.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD testing practices and automated pipeline integration.
  • Prior support for proposal, recompete, or contingent award efforts
