THE ROLE:
The Group Director, MarTech is a strategic leader responsible for managing complex projects and large teams while regularly contributing to business development efforts. In this M5-level role, you will represent DEPT’s technical capabilities externally and ensure the successful delivery of high-impact MarTech programs. You will lead a team of solution experts, who are specialized in the major MarTech platforms, support you in delivery, and rely on your strategic guidance for professional growth. You will collaborate with peers in Strategy, Creative, and Delivery as well as parallel teams in EMEA to refine the MarTech, CRM, and Connected Experiences offering for the agency.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Strategic leadership of MarTech-powered, connected experiences for our clients.
- Showcase DEPT’s expertise and leadership by representing our technical capabilities to clients and key stakeholders; develop and maintain senior and executive leadership relationships.
- Lead cross-practice and cross-craft technical initiatives that drive strategic innovation and collaboration across the agency to ensure we are delivering high-capable and efficient solutions.
- Partner with peers in the Data & Analytics team and Platforms team to draft and deliver comprehensive MarTech architectures for clients.
- Evolve our MarTech Audit and reference architecture using our proprietary tools and AI to accelerate time to market.
- Leverage your hands-on experience to lead teams in the execution of MarTech initiatives in collaboration with cross-craft peers.
- Provide mentorship for your team of Architects, Principles, and Analysts; use your MarTech expertise to distill organizational goals for alignment with individuals’ growth goals.
- Support strategic resource planning for your team, working with our resource management team to cast talent to opportunities and grow the team.
- Support the pitch process for qualified MarTech opportunities by building proposals and scopes, leading pre-sales activities, and being the face of DEPT’s MarTech expertise in the Americas.
- Oversee a team that does the following:
- Setup, configuration, and optimization of diverse martech platforms
- Build and manage customer journey automations, trigger-based campaigns, and advanced segmentation across platforms
- Design and implement data flows between CDPs and activation platforms, including identity resolution and real-time synchronization
- Execute technical implementations including API integrations, custom templates, tracking frameworks, and platform migrations
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues across the martech stack and maintain integration documentation
- Build attribution models, A/B testing frameworks, and automated reporting dashboards
- Conduct technical audits and health checks of existing martech implementations
WHAT YOU BRING:
- A decade or more of hands-on experience implementing and managing marketing technology platforms.
- Strategic vision and ability to translate abstract client business problems into structured, high-value technology engagements.
- Proven leadership of large teams and navigating complex, multi-workstream client environments where partnership with Delivery is critical.
- Hands-on proficiency across diverse MarTech platforms such as:
- Email/messaging platforms (Iterable, Braze, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Adobe Campaign)
- Customer Data Platforms (Segment, Hightouch, mParticle, Tealium, AEP)
- Analytics platforms (Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Mixpanel)
- Marketing automation (Salesforce Marketing Cloud, HubSpot, Marketo)
- Integrations with Content and Commerce systems
- Additional martech tools relevant to client needs
- Demonstrated success in pre-sales, account expansion, and building complex technical proposals.
- Excellent communication skills, effectively balancing high-level strategy with the necessary technical detail.
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)

The anticipated salary range for this position is listed below. Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, expertise, physical location, and organizational impact. This is based on a 40-hour workweek and leveling. Keep in mind, we’re flexible.
