Design, build, and maintain scalable Python/Django backends with Kafka pipelines for millions of users; contract role aligned to CET±2.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of backend services from design to deployment and maintenance.
- Build scalable, high-performance distributed backends with Python, Django.
- Architect systems to support millions of users with low latency and high availability.
- Collaborate with product, frontend, and DevOps to ship features on tight timelines.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers through code reviews and architecture discussions.
- Own APIs, data pipelines, Kafka-based messaging, and caching infrastructure.
- Optimize for throughput, latency, fault tolerance, and resilience under load.
- Implement unit, integration, and performance tests.
- Improve development processes and system observability (monitoring, logging).
- Participate in on-call rotations and production issue support.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional Python backend development experience.
- Solid Django experience with asyncio.
- Production experience with Apache Kafka.
- Strong experience with distributed systems (microservices or similar).
- Experience deploying and managing containerized applications with Docker.
- Familiarity with a cloud provider (AWS preferred).
- Proficient with SQL databases, especially PostgreSQL.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and test automation.
- Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalent).
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotations.
Nice to Have
- Kubernetes experience.
- Prior experience with systems supporting 1M+ users.
- Exposure to event sourcing or CQRS patterns.
- Familiarity with React frontend.
- Knowledge of big data tools (Flink, NiFi).
- Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools.
- Experience in sports or betting industries.
