Own, design, build, and maintain scalable Python/Django backend services serving millions of users with low latency. Collaborate across product, DevOps, and frontend teams.

Responsibilities

Own backend services from design through deployment and maintenance.
Design, develop, and maintain scalable Python/Django backends.
Architect distributed systems to support millions of users with low latency.
Collaborate with product, frontend, and DevOps to ship features on tight timelines.
Lead and mentor junior engineers through code reviews and architecture talks.
Own APIs, data pipelines, Kafka, and caching infrastructure.
Optimize for throughput, latency, fault tolerance, and resilience under load.
Implement unit, integration, and performance tests.
Improve development processes and system observability (monitoring/logging).
Participate in on-call rotations and production support.

Requirements

5+ years of professional Python backend development.
Solid Django experience with asyncio.
Production experience with Apache Kafka.
Experience with distributed systems (microservices).
Experience deploying and managing Docker containers.
Familiarity with a cloud provider (AWS preferred).
Proficient with PostgreSQL.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and test automation.
Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
Willingness to participate in on-call rotations.

Nice to Have

Exposure to event sourcing or CQRS patterns
Frontend familiarity (React)
Knowledge of big data tools (Flink, NiFi)
Terraform (infrastructure as code) exposure
Docker and Kubernetes experience
Experience in sports/betting industries
