Own design, development, and maintenance of scalable Python Django backends (Kafka-based) serving millions of users, with CET ±2h collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of backend services from design to deployment and maintenance
- Design and maintain scalable, high-performance Python Django backends
- Architect distributed systems for millions of users with low latency
- Collaborate with product, frontend, and DevOps to ship features on timelines
- Lead and mentor juniors via code reviews and architectural discussions
- Own APIs, data pipelines, Kafka, and caching infrastructure
- Optimize throughput, latency, and fault tolerance under heavy load
- Implement unit, integration, and performance tests
- Improve development processes and observability (monitoring, logging)
- Participate in on-call rotations and production support
Requirements
- 5+ years of Python backend development with ownership
- Solid Django experience with asyncio
- Production experience with Apache Kafka
- Distributed systems experience (microservices)
- Docker experience; Kubernetes is a plus
- Cloud provider familiarity (AWS preferred)
- PostgreSQL (SQL databases); NoSQL is a plus
- CI/CD pipelines and test automation
- Monitoring/logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalent)
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotations
Nice to Have
- Exposure to event sourcing or CQRS patterns
- Frontend familiarity (React)
- Big data tools (Flink, NiFi)
- Terraform or other infrastructure as code tools
- Docker and Kubernetes containerization/orchestration
- Experience in sports/betting industries
