Own the design, build, and maintenance of scalable Python/Django backends using Kafka for millions of users, aligned with CET±2 for Sofia-based collaboration.

Responsibilities

Own backend services from design through deployment and maintenance.
Design, develop, and maintain scalable Python/Django backends.
Architect distributed systems for millions of users with low latency.
Collaborate with product, frontend, and DevOps to ship features on time.
Lead and mentor juniors through code reviews and discussions.
Own APIs, data pipelines, Kafka, and caching components.
Optimize throughput, latency, and resilience under heavy load.
Implement unit, integration, and performance tests.
Improve observability and development processes (monitoring, logging).
Participate in on-call rotations and production support.

Requirements

5+ years of Python backend development experience.
Solid Django experience with asyncio.
Production experience with Apache Kafka.
Experience with distributed systems (microservices).
Docker experience; Kubernetes a plus.
Cloud provider experience (AWS preferred).
Proficient with PostgreSQL; NoSQL is a plus.
Experience with CI/CD and test automation.
Knowledge of monitoring/logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
Willingness to participate in on-call rotations.

Nice to Have

Event sourcing or CQRS patterns experience.
Frontend familiarity (React).
Big data tools like Flink or NiFi.
Terraform or IaC experience.
Docker and Kubernetes practical knowledge.
Experience in sports/betting industries.
