Data Ops Engineer (Snowflake/Databricks/DBT) - Remote Portugal/Madrid (Occasional Travel to Salamanca)
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Join a global organization as a Data Ops Engineer, taking ownership of the operational excellence, reliability, and governance of a modern, enterprise-scale cloud Data Platform. You'll be the final gatekeeper for Production deployments, shaping how a business-critical platform is monitored, supported, and evolved.
PROJECT & CONTEXT
Our client operates a sophisticated, modern Data Platform built on Snowflake, Databricks, DBT, Python, PySpark, SQL, and Power BI. The Data Ops Engineer will serve as the operational owner of this stack, ensuring data products are deployed, monitored, and maintained in line with strict Data Standards and SDLC governance. The role bridges the Data Team and wider IT Operations, supporting business-critical analytics and reporting solutions within a financial/investment-driven environment.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (Required)
- 5+ years in Data Engineering, Data Operations, Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, or Production Support
- Strong understanding of Data Platform Operations and Production Support in enterprise environments
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake administration and operations
- Experience with Databricks and PySpark
- Strong SQL and relational database experience
- Strong Python programming skills
- Experience with DBT deployment, orchestration, and support
- Solid understanding of CI/CD practices and release management
- Experience with Git-based source control, including multi-branch development strategies
- Understanding of Data Architecture and Data Modelling concepts
- Experience troubleshooting ETL/ELT pipelines, APIs, and data workflows
- Experience with monitoring, observability, incident management, and operational support frameworks
- Understanding of SDLC governance and deployment controls
- Proven experience managing Production deployments and release governance
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments
- Fluent English (written and spoken)
- Based in Portugal, or in the Madrid area (Spain) with availability to travel to the client's office in Salamanca as required
NICE TO HAVE (Preferred)
- Exposure to Power BI administration and deployment processes
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
- Experience with Data Quality and Data Observability frameworks
- Exposure to Data Streaming technologies
- Experience with Azure cloud services
- Knowledge of Data Catalog and Metadata Management solutions
- Experience with platform cost optimization and FinOps practices
- Experience within Financial Services, Asset Management, Private Equity, or similar domains
- Exposure to regulatory, audit, and governance requirements in financial organizations
Compensation: €2,000 – €2,500/month net, depending on experience and seniority level.
