Your new role:

  • Report to Head of Research Community Engagement.

  • This role is responsible for co-ordinating and executing cross-journal processes to support effective editor and board member recruitment and engagement across our Gold Open Access journal portfolio. This primarily includes sending recruitment campaigns to potential new board members that have been identified by the Research Community Engagement Associate or Journal Managers, and may also extend to coordinating the distribution of quarterly newsletters to editorial boards to build and maintain journal engagement.

  • The RCE Assistant should be comfortable with data and compiling reports on recruitment efforts and board engagement across the portfolio.

  • The role involves working closely with other members of the Research Community Engagement team across the journal portfolio. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and collaboration across departments are essential to ensuring the success of these initiatives.

As Research Community Engagement Assistant, you will :

  • Compile and analyse editorial board activity/engagement reports, providing Journal Managers with an annual report that will inform decision-making regarding an annual cull of inactive members and/or identify re-engagement needs.

  • Oversee the removal of inactive editorial board members in collaboration with Journal Managers, ensuring the timely identification and removal of underperforming members.

  • Support editor/board recruitment efforts by coordinating outreach campaigns using Customer Insights to lists of candidates identified by the Associate Managing Editor or Journal Managers.

  • Work cross-departmentally to help streamline editorial board management processes, ensuring alignment with broader business goals and operational efficiencies.

  • Provide feedback on editorial board management tools and processes, flagging areas for improvement to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Drive recruitment of high-impact board members across Gold Open Access journals, with a particular focus on establishing a strong academic network in China.
